Time flies!

WOW! I have been REEEEALLY bad at the whole blog thing, but I guess that's to be expected with a newborn! Tucker turned 12 weeks old on Monday! I can't even believe it! I LOVED being at home with him for 10 weeks, but now I'm back at work. :-( It's been a crazy couple of weeks, but it really does make me cherish my time at home even more! I miss my little guy so much but I'm so lucky that Taylor is getting to stay home with him, at least for the time being. To make a long story short, we haven't gotten into daycare at Covenant so we made the decision for Taylor to take the semester off from welding classes at SPC and do some coursework online through Tech and take care of our precious little guy.

Here are some pictures of our little (big!) guy over the last few months! He's growing like a weed!

Tucker's Birth Day

This is a little late, but better late than never!

Tucker Thompson was born at 6:54pm on Monday, October 26th after about 12 hours of labor!
Taylor and I went to Labor and Delivery at 6:00am becauseI was having cramp-like stomach pain but when I showed up to L&D I was having contractions and my blood pressure was 150/100! Although I had been pretty swollen for what seemed like the last half of the pregnancy, my blood pressure had been fine! But all of a sudden (probably because I was in L&D!) my blood pressure was crazy high.
The nurse called my doctor, who decided that he would go ahead and induce me, which I was fine with at this point because I was pretty much miserable!

So to make a really long story shortER, I was admitted and shortly thereafter, in what seemed like a short time they started me on an anti-biotic, pitocin and fluids, then my OB came by, felt on my stomach and guess-timated that Tucker was probably 8, 8 1/2 pounds, then shortly after that the anesthesiologist came in and started my epidural and I was well on my way! Well, sort of... My labor didn't exactly progress quickly, when I was checked at L&D triage I was only 3 centimeters dilated, when I was checked after my epidural around 10am I was a 5, and then around noon I was still only a 5, so they increased my pitocin and was a 7 by 2:30 and finally a 10 and 100% effaced at about 5:00! At about 5:30pm I started pushing, and finally at 6:54pm after being threatened with the need for a c-section, our almost 9 1/2 pound baby boy was born!

Every person who came into our room, our pediatrician included commented on what a big boy he was! She said kudos to my OB for letting me get him out the old-fashioned way and that Tucker was perfect and usually with babies that big they will have broken collarbones or some sort of trauma but not our little guy!

We went home on Wednesday and had visitors every day. Having our parents here for the first few days was such a HUGE blessing! Bob & Lisa got here shortly after we got home from the hospital and Lisa unpacked all of our stuff from the hospital, washed our laundry and did all sorts of chores and Bob made us a delicious steak and lobster celebration dinner! Then my mom came the next day (Thursday) and stayed until Saturday night. She did all sorts of innumerable things and basically took care of all 3 of us, cooked, cleaned, did laundry and pretty much everything you wouldn't think of while I recovered and got used to taking care of our little guy.

And what can I say about my husband? He has been the single greatest, supportive, encouraging person since we left for the hospital. Even though I obviously think he's the greatest guy on the face of the earth (I married him!) he definitely stepped up in the delivery room and has been head-over-heels in love with our little guy since the moment he layed eyes on him. We are definitely on a whole new level with each other now that Tucker is here and I don't think life could be any better!

So now that I have turned this blog into a novel, I will go eat some dinner but I will try and update on our life since Tucker arrived in the next couple of days!

T-minus 2 weeks and counting...

Actually, if you want to get technical, we have 11 days until Tucker's scheduled appearance! That is a week and a half from today! We have become quite impatient around here, going on walks hoping to entice him to make an early appearance, but no such luck! The house is clean, all his laundry is done, and his room is ready! Now we're just waiting on HIM!!! Even though I know I should get over all of my impatient anxiety and enjoy these last few days of just Taylor and I, I really just want to have him here! So for now, we will just wait until our next doctor's appointment on Wednesday and see what he has to say!

Tucker's Room

The lovely Lawson ladies threw a shower for Tucker this last weekend in Midland and it was AMAZING! So much good food and Tucker got lots of great stuff! We are very blessed to have such great family and friends. I was so excited to get everything all set up that we came home late Saturday afternoon to get it all unloaded amd put away.
Now all we need is the little guy and it will be complete! :-)

Speaking of waiting for Tucker to get here, I went for my 37 week appointment today (even though I'm officially 37 weeks tomorrow) and I am 2 centimeters dilated and 50%. That's an improvement over last week's 1 cm so at least I'm not going backwards! Which is good because we're ready for him to be here! So if he's not here by his due date, November 5th, then we're going to induce. I'd rather not have to induce, but since he's a pretty big guy, we may have to. But at any rate Tucker Thompson will be here 3 weeks from tomorrow!

33 Week Ultrasound

Thursday we had our 33 week ultrasound at Dr. Hales office. Unfortunately it wasn't in 3D and we didn't get any good pictures this time, but little man is still doing good - he weighs 5lbs, 8oz. (he is in the 53rd percentile, surprisingly! I would have thought that would be a little higher!) and apparently has a little bit of hair! I had no idea you could see hair on an ultrasound, but apparently you can! 46 more days until D-Day! (But I think he'll come earlier!) Can't wait!

Project weekend

I have been in project mode this weekend. I am currently waiting between coats of paint on our bed-side tables.

So far I have:
  • Spray painted all the fixtures in the master bedroom (each fixture was a different color - the towel bars were brushed nickel, the toilet paper holder and the cabinet door handles were glittery black and the hand towel rings were a funny red-ish bronze color)
  • Made some bibs for Tucker
  • Decorated a lamp shade for the lamp I got to go on the nightstand in Tucker's room
  • along with all the regular weekend stuff, laundry, cleaning, yada yada yada...

Now it's back to the furniture painting. When I finally get done and everything straightened up, I will post pics of the house! :)

Finally settling in!

This last week has been a busy one to say the least! Last Wednesday (the 2nd), was Taylor & I's 2nd anniversary and also happened to be the day we closed on our new HOUSE!!!
YES! I did indeed say CLOSED! we are now homeowners! This one actually stuck! And are we glad it did! Since closing day we have been quite busy. We had lots to do with all of the moving, cleaning and unpacking, not to mention all of the things that needed installed/fixed/etc.! But luckily we had a long weekend and Taylor's whole family came in town on Sunday and helped with all of that nonsense! It was a HUGE blessing! Lisa, Heidi, & Mindy unpacked all my decor and hung/placed it all around the house while Taylor & Bob installed the new over-the-range microwave and garage door opener (YAY for getting to park in a garage!!) and Colter and Will hung stuff and pretty much did whatever Lisa told them to do. :) And it looks AWESOME!

Besides all of the perks of moving into a new house, I actually get to start working on Tucker's nursery! So far I only have his dresser/changing table and nightstand in there, but I have hung up/folded all of his 0-12mos clothes in his closet but I have yet to get any projects started because I wanted to get everything unpacked and situated first, but I'm hoping to go into Tucker Project mode this weekend!

That's pretty much it for now! Tomorrow I will OFFICIALLY be 32 weeks pregnant! That means only 8 more weeks (56 more days) until Tucker's supposed to be here! :) WE CAN'T WAIT!!!
